Show Outline:
- Piano Introduction with Gomer
- “Country Bear Musical Jamboree” with Henry, The Five Bear Rugs, Melvin, Max and Bull
- “Try Everything” from Zootopia with Trixie and the Sun Bonnet Trio
- “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid with Romeo McGrowl, backed up by Henry, Melvin, Max & Buff
- “Supercalifragilisicexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins with Ernest playing fiddle
- “A Whole New World” from Aladdin with Gomer, Wendell and Teddi Berra
- “Fixer Upper” from Frozen with Terrence, backed up by Henry, Melvin, Max, and Buff
- “Remember Me” from Coco with Big Al
- “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story with Henry, Sammy and backed up by Melvin, Max and Buff
- “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book with the entire Cast–Big Al interrupting
- “Come Again” with Henry, Sammy, Melvin, Max and Buff
Plus:
- They kept the show!
- Interesting and improved lobby that celebrates Marc Davis’s earliest sketches on the show
- Disney heritage references abound like the Bert Jacket on Ernest and the reference to Mineral King
- The entire cast is involved–even Rufus
- Melvin, Max and Buff are more intricately involved
- Lots of American music styles
- Introductory number makes sense–Though “Welcome” from Brother Bear would have worked as well
- The characters seem the same–even Romeo McGrowl (formerly Liver Lips)
- Added lighting, draping, backdrops and special FX
- Big Al still steals the show–Oscar holds a plush Big Al
- Used “Come Again” again–perhaps paced slightly faster
- More easily introducible to new generations and audiences.
- Other Disney songs could still be changed in and out
- Animatronics are fluid and do not interrupt the entertainment value of this show
- You really want to clap and sing along.
- The crowds loved it
Minus:
- Too short
- Bunny, Bubbles & Beaula Need their own number
- Would have preferred Henry and Teddi Berra with Wendell having his own number
- Costumes seem awkward at times
- Should have used “Davy Crockett” with Sammy–Though “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” Also Works.
Summary: This is a great new beginning for the Country Bears. Could this same kind of experience happen in Tokyo Disney? Disneyland?
Join us next time as we cover even more happenings in the other three parks: Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
