Roundup Rodeo BBQ Review!

Roundup Rodeo BBQ Review!

After what has perhaps been the longest wait for an announced restaurant, Roundup Rodeo Barbecue has finally opened in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. What is this restaurant all about and is it worth dining at? We look at the setting, the food and the service. And at the end we compare it to other barbecue offerings around Walt Disney World and even beyond. We even compare it to what I believe is the worst restaurant experience I’ve had at Walt Disney World to date. Is this new offering worth getting a reservation? And by the way Jeff, how did you manage to pull one off. We’ll share all of this and more in our Roundup Rodeo BBQ Review!

This podcast as well as all others are brought to you by Performance Journeys, which celebrates its 20th year as a training and development group bringing best in business ideas through keynotes, workshops, seminars and amazing benchmarking programs to organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors. The total was $45. There were no discounts. I was given a NA Party Tax of $6.50 for a no show of the second person. With final tax the amount due was $54.85. I gave a much greater gratuity because the service was really outstanding.

Comparison

Disney does not have a “Barbecue” list of restaurants. You can identify everything from Cuban to Norwegian. You can even identify American. But you can’t identify Barbecue on the app. You could also consider several other restaurants like ‘Ohana and Sanaa to have grilled, barbecued and/or smoked items. Still when you think about American barbecue, these choices have been at the top:

Whispering Canyon–Okay. Just okay. Should be better. Much better.

Flame Tree Barbecue–A great setting, but food is good not great.

Regal Eagle Smokehouse–A great setting, but the food is good not great. Still, most affordable.

The Polite Pig–Perhaps the best made food, but not an outstanding setting.

Trails End–RIP to the Antry family. Come to Toy Story for barbecue. Come to Cape May for the buffet.

Hoop-Dee-Doo–Best entertainment and the food is pretty good. My favorite second choice. Certainly the first in entertainment.

And what about The Diamond Horseshoe?

NOTE: The other day I spoke of restaurant experiences in Frontierland at Disneyland Paris. I meant to say that the only other full-service experience in any other parks is at Tokyo Disneyland, but somehow it came out as simply “Disneyland” when I recorded it. In truth, Tokyo Disneyland has not only a full-service restaurant but a number of shows similar to the original Diamond Horseshoe show with variations based on Toy Story and Mickey and Company. Please check out that podcast as well as the other Disneyland Paris podcasts if you haven’t already.

Oh! and my podcasting host Podbean tells me that the last podcast which showcases Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage and The Compass of Your Heart was podcast #400. Hooray! Be sure to check that out and subscribe so you can check out all those podcasts.
