Rivers of Light Being Revised!
Since its opening, Rivers of Light, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, has been getting mixed reviews by those visiting this nighttime pageant. Despite it’s beautifully illuminated lantern floats, theatrical imagery, musical score, themed ships and special effects, few have been truly “wowed” by the evening entertainment show.
So on Memorial Day Weekend 2019, a new show will unfold, entitled Rivers of Light: We Are One. This show will introduce additional imagery using footage from Disneynature films, and also animation from the Disney vault.
The music is also being revamped to bring together the original musical score with familiar Disney tunes that will hopefully resonate more with guests who are visiting. Themes of discovery, fun, friendship, fear, love and family are woven throughout.
Disney is probably taking its cue from the Tree of Life Nighttime Awakenings, which has been far more embraced by guests. Those showings incorporate Disney music, characters and footage into their scenes.
Disney made a major commitment to turning this park into more of a night time locale, but with the tepid interest of guests visiting the original show, park operations reduced evening hours on many nights. Hopefully the show will be more embraced by guests and that evening hours will be extended further.
