Walt Disney World Opens on Labor Day 50 Years Ago

The title may seem confusing, after all, there is barely a Disney fan that doesn’t know that Walt Disney World opened its doors to its first paid guests on October 1st, 1971. And the official dedication weekend was October 23rd, 24th and 25th, with the last day being the moment Roy O. Disney would dedicate the park. But there’s another park opening story, and it’s about the first day that families actually came into the Magic Kingdom with available attractions, restaurants and stores all running. That story we will share with you on this the 50th anniversary day of when it opened. It’s a great story, and it has implications for any organization.

Our podcast carries narrative of the entire experience. You can find the podcast here on PodbeaniTunesSpotify,  and ListenNotes. Please subscribe!

  • Pirates of the Caribbean Across the Globe: We not only compare this attraction in parks world-wide, but we deep dive into what makes each unique. Currently we’ve covered Tokyo Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. More to come!

  • Coming Soon! Disney at Work Interactive Tour: Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary. Looking at the heritage of Most Magical Place in the World, we draw best practices from over the years that you can again, apply to your organization.
