The All New Test Track 3.0–Is Third Time the Charm?

“Third time’s the charm” is a saying that suggests perhaps the third attempt will be more successful than the two prior failures. By no means has the past two versions of Test Track been failures. But it seems like this is a huge opportunity to learn from the previous experiences and truly come up with something that could be loved for years to come. We chart out not only all three, but also talk about its forefather, The World of Motion. On our journey I pick up my friend and colleague Nick Grande, to talk about our experience testing Test Track, where it works, where it doesn’t and where it retreads. Great news! There is much to love about this new version. And while we’ve seen people either completely love or hate it, we’ll give you a complete sense of how you can get both responses. Join us for Test Track 3.0. Is the third time the charm?

Comparing Attractions
The following chart, images and videos make up the content of our podcast:

World of Motion

Test Track 1.0
Challenges:
The challenges were complicated opening this attraction which worked like slot cars.It dealt with the following:
- Cars went faster than any Disney attraction at 65 mph
- Passenger has no brakes
- Getting 29 test vehicles to talk to each other at the same time.
However, when it finally opened, it was well received and quickly rose to be the most popular attraction at Epcot and one of the most popular in all of Walt Disney World.
Test Track 2.0
Test Track 3.0
Summary
The tragic news in all this is that Test Track goes back to being a Tier 1 option on the Lightning Lane selections with Soarin’ dropping down to the second spot. That probably means much longer waits for those planning on going standby at Soarin’. We shall see.
We should also mention that this ride system had an offspring of a completely different kind. Perhaps even better than Test Track is Radiator Springs Racers. While Test Track keeps trying to improve, and while it is the original, nothing can replace the perfection of Radiator Springs Racers and how they have used the track technology to merge with a Cars experience like no other ride.
