Celebrating A Century of Powerful Disney Insights

I’m pleased to announce that my newest book, “A Century of Powerful Disney Insights” is now available on Amazon. This book is tied to the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company being commemorated this month. Volume 1 shares the Walt and Roy Disney years from 1923 through 1973. In introducing this book, I’ve invited my son, Cameron Kober, to interview me and discuss the book. Very much like myself, Cameron works with organizations to improve their leadership and employee experience–in this case–in the Federal sector. This book is full of stories from the first 50 years of the studios which can be applied to your own life and work. Join us as we chat about “A Century of Powerful Disney Insights”.

As a preface, the book, Volume I, is about 200 pages. It carries 43 chapters that chronicle the beginnings of the company from Walt arriving in California in 1923 up until the 50th anniversary of the company, just after Walt Disney World opened and Walt’s brother Roy passed. Each chapter carries some specific event or period in the growth and development of The Walt Disney organization. I didn’t want to miss any specifically important milestone, which is why the book grew to be two volumes. Moreover, each chapter has some particular lesson or message and offers what I refer to as “Ideas for the Next Century” which are questions to ask yourself to consider how these ideas relate to your own life and work. Other works have gone into greater detail about specific time periods such as Walt’s life, or the advent of Snow White, or the creation of Disneyland. These two volumes will be one of the only works created to canvas the entire 100 years of the organization. That’s not an easy task. I wanted to be succinct, but not miss anything. Good news! If you aren’t familiar with the history of the organization, this will offer you a clear perspective of how all of this rolled forth. And if you are a big fan of Disney, better news! I think in every chapter you probably will find some tidbit of information or insight you may not have heard before.

I’m excited to share this story, and believe it is an important way to celebrate a century of Disney Magic! To that end, I have dedicated this book to the two who started it all on October 16th, 1923:

To Walt and Roy Disney, who have sought to bring “happily ever after” to the lives of so many. This book is dedicated to the profound way you have influenced the world around us. Thank you for what you created in the first 50 years that have given us the entire 100 years. And most of all, thank you for the ideas and inspiration that will lead us into the next 100 years.
