Connecting Batuu to the Star Wars Fans Love

What does all of this have to do with the Star Wars characters that we’ve come to know and love? In truth, this is a new story, one that is placed between the first six and the latest three movies, however, in the canon of Star Wars, there is a connection. In a canon novel, Thrawn: Alliances, which takes place between III and IV, Emperor Palapatine senses a disturbance in the Force. He wonders if there isn’t a threat to the Empire taking root on Batuu. He sends out both Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn to investigate. The book also shares how the two met originally in Batuu during a time when Darth Vader was Annakin Skywalker. During the Clone Wars, Skywalker journeyed to Batuu to search for Senator Padme Amidala. She had been missing for sometime and the thought was that she was here among the Black Spires. This is prior to becoming the mother of Luke and Leia. Here she is on a mission as well, looking for her handmaiden Duja, who uncovered something crucial for the ongoing Clone war.

Of course, all this occurs before your arrival on Batuu. But there has been events which have led familiar faces to us to this planet before. Now it’s your turn to be the hero. Kylo Ren is descending on Batuu to put an end to the rebels assembling within the Black Spire forest. In one attraction you are being invited to head out to space and to fight the resistance. In another, you are invited on a smuggler’s run using the Millennium Falcon.

There is some rumor that Batuu will also show up in Episode IX coming out in December, 2019. Additionally, when you experience Star Tours, you will notice that the ship ends up in the Black Spire Outpost of Batuu. It is rumored that there may be new references in upcoming Star Tour itineraries.
