Shanghai Disneyland Map Details

*The newest map of the Shanghai Disneyland Park.*

With the announcement of the Shanghai Disney Resort set to open on June 16th of this year, a new map of the Disneyland park has been released. This park map is much more detailed than the version found at the entrance of the D23 exhibit. What’s even funner is when you zoom in tight, you see some new details. Let’s take a look going counter-clockwise.

The entrance to Soaring Over the Horizon sits behind the big mountain. Guests will enter underneath a sculpted rock of a large eagle/hawk. Similar in my mind to the sculpted animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But this sculpture will be pretty big. Note that the building made of metal sheds above it is the new show, Tarzan Call of the Jungle.

We’re all familiar with Skull Rock. It appears that in the pirate lagoon, there seems to be a Skull Island that is planned. Perhaps those canoeing will get a closer look at this unique feature.

I love the maze at Disneyland Paris. I’m curiouser and curiouser about this version, which is based on the more recent film starring Johnny Depp. This closeup however, gives us much more detail as to the entire layout. There seems to be several key areas. Closest to the castle is a courtyard for the Queen of Hearts. The more traditional maze weaves you until you get to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. But the maze continues on the other side of the main walkway, where you see a number of animal sculptures.

What’s interesting is that some component of this seems to be indoors. I wonder if some portion of this is under the walkway. Any ideas?

Continuing on we visit Winnie the Pooh. With the different take on the maze, I like the use of honey pots for a tea cup ride. It also rounds out the area to be a more complete mini land in Fantasyland. Here we see honey pots and Pooh himself on the roof of the building.

Frozen: A Singalong Celebration will be in this theater. Still, the theater looks more themed to Tangled? Am I the only one thinking this?

Now here’s the riddle of the day: This one is sandwiched outside of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Here it is:

This restaurant is called Celebration Cafe. It has pictures on the back of Mickey and the gang, Snow White, Mulan, Doug from Up, even Panchito and Jose Carioca. It seems weird to have photos on the back, but if you study all of the buildings, they mirror the front of the building on the backside. So you can suppose that this is the front. I wonder if it isn’t an employee break area. But it shouldn’t be on a map if it were. It reminds me of the Odyssey Restaurant in Epcot–having a Future World design, but not really belonging to either Future World or World Showcase.

Our last stop is World of Disney at the exit of Disneytown. Note that at the top is Mickey flying a plane–typical of the aeronautical themes you find at most World of Disney stores.

So these are some of the wonderful details I found searching through the map. You may want to take a look up close as well, and share what you can see. It’s an exciting park, and worthy of the Disney name.
